Congrats to our 2024 scholarship winners.  Aubrey Shepard and Katherine Ernzen. Both received a $750 Scholarship and both plan to start their college at Tidewater Community College.  Each one of them achieved honors and were both very outgoing with school participation and volunteerism during high school.

Congrats to our 2022 scholarship winners Dispina Titsis and Harrison Matthews.  Best of luck in their higher education and careers.

SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM..Download the scholarship application 2024

PURPOSE:  The purpose of the Wellington Woods Civic League scholarship program is to provide a scholarship for college-bound high school graduates who are members of our neighborhood community.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO APPLY:  High school seniors who are residents of the Wellington Woods neighborhood and who plan to continue their education immediately upon high school graduation at any postsecondary institution.  Also, the residence must be in good stating with Civic League dues.

HOW MUCH IS THE SCHOLARSHIP AWARDs:  The scholarship award is up to $750 per student which will be paid directly to the postsecondary institution that the student attends.  The amount of funding is dependent on donations by WWCL members as of   July 1, 2024 .  The amount awarded each year from this fund is determined the WWCL board per year.

WHEN ARE SCHOLARSHIPS AWARDED:  Scholarship recipients will be notified by July 15th of the award year.  The deadline for application is June 15, 2024.  Selection is made by a committee appointed by the Wellington Woods Civic League.

HOW DO I APPLY:  All students who are eligible should complete the posted application between Jan 1st and June 15, 2024 including the required essay and include their high school transcript and mail to WWCL President, 920 Earl of Chatham Lane, Virginia Beach, VA  23454 no later than June 15, 2024.  Completed materials must be submitted on time.

In 2021 we did not have a scholarship winner as no applications were received by deadline. These monies were deferred to the overall scholarship fund that is held separately from the general fund.

Congrats to our 2020 WWCL Scholarship winner….Joshua Grosz

Joshua Grosz is attending East Carolina University starting with the Fall 2020 semester.  His desired fields of study include Sports Marketing, Business and Communications.  He is also an outstanding Baseball athlete.  He graduated Cox High School 2020 with a 3.9 GPA.  Best of luck to Joshua!

Congrats to our 2019 WWCL Scholarship winners. 
For 2019 we were able to pay out two $500. well deserving scholarships.2019 Winner Scholarship award winners:
Jefferson Matthews will be attending university of Illinois at Urbana champaign.  His desired field of study is aerospace engineering and he graduated from ocean lakes high school. Very well rounded with a 4.0 g.p.a.
Lucas Alexander will be attending Virginia tech. His desired fields of study are engineering, computer science and cyber security. He graduated ocean lakes high school and was very well rounded with a 4.0488 g.p.a.

Congrats to Harrison Hurst our 2017 WWCL Scholarship award winner.  Harrison will be attending U.VA in the upcoming fall semester.  Thanks to all that contributed to the fund as the total scholarship payout is $500.
